Thursday, Sept. 29
Well, up until this morning we were smooth sailing and counting down to our day of discharge. This morning something grew in the cultures they took two days ago. Yeast, which is a fungus, can be serious. William is on stand by for surgery to get his central line removed. (which means no food or drink indefinitely) They are not putting in a new line yet. He will have to have needle sticks for labs, therapy... for a few days. (which is hard on him!)
There is a possibility that the fungus growing could be a contaminant in the blood draw, but they are not willing to take any chances. He will start aggressive anti-fungal IV therapy today and I am not sure how much longer we will have to be here. Thank you for checking in on Will.
