Day +19: Moving in the Right Direction

Everyday Jamie and I anxiously await the blood count results. At around 4:00-5:00 am, a nurse will come in and take some blood from William to run some tests. The labs evaluate and count the different cells in William's blood sample. They check William's platelets, white blood cells, etc. as a way to see how the new bone marrow is doing. In short, if certain cells are present then what you can see is that the new bone marrow is producing new blood.

Today, the labs were of course taken and the results came back. One of our dear physicians discussed with Jamie and showed her that his ANC's are going up and that he would not be surprised if William's new bone marrow engrafted this week! In other words, the new bone marrow may begin to really start taking root in Will's bones very soon. It is still early but it is looking really good. This is wonderful news for William and is a big step in his body being cured of CGD.

Please continue to pray that his bone marrow engrafts. Pray that he continues to be infection free. Pray that even though tensions are high as Jamie and I walk with William in this, that we would love each other well. We will talk with you soon ...
